Aurora ranks in the top ten of high schools in Ohio
This past week, US News and World Reports posted its annual ranking of high schools. Aurora is ranked ninth in the state and 308th in the country. The rankings are based on numerous factors. They include diversity and college readiness. For college readiness, they looked into AP test scores.
Mike Roberto, the assistant superintendent, explains this process, “The U.S. News & World Report Rankings are viewed as one of the more comprehensive measures of achievement for a school, due to looking at not only opportunities for high achievers in the form of AP classes, but also taking into account overall state test scores as well as how well the school meets the needs of underserved students.”
Pat Ciccantelli, the superintendent, describes why AHS is ranked so highly, “It is high because we have a great culture in our district and our students and staff set high expectations.”
Paul Milcetich, the principal, elaborates on the plans for the future, “Learning is an organic process with different students with different needs that vary from year to year. We will continue our approach of focusing on the inputs or nurturing our students needs with the faith that the outputs (accolades or fruits/flowers) that come along because of us developing a strong root system will take care of itself. That is our building philosophy, and it has served us well. We always look to add classes and address specific programs or needs each year, but the overall approach remains the same.”
Overall, an achieving school creates a positive community that all residents can benefit from - thank you to all administration, staff and students for your hard work.
