Florence and the Machine announce "High as Hope" tour
The Florence and the Machine tour “High as Hope” is officially underway. This summer, the group featuring singer Florence Welch begins the tour in Arizona and will conclude in Milan, Italy.
The band is described as indie-rock and has been capturing the ears of listeners since 2007. People may recognize the name Florence and the Machine from the hit song “Dog Days are Over”. If you liked that song, you are sure to love others. In my opinion, “Dog Days are Over” is a great song but pales in comparison to the other works Florence and the Machine has to offer. The band truly deserves more credit to be given for their other songs.
The earlier albums “Ceremonials” and “Lungs” are my favorite because of the deep, soulful sound of Welch’s voice. Her voice has a richness that few other artists have been able to replicate. In every song, she exhibits the incredible ability to go from a captivating whisper to belting and holding notes for seemingly ages.
Florence and the Machine offers music for any occasion. Do you want something tranquil, peaceful, pensive? “Grace” from the “High as Hope” album is perfect. It features a gentle piano part and choir-like singing in the background. Do you want something energetic and dramatic in the best way possible? Try “Drumming Song” from the album “Lungs”. Welch belts her notes and lyrics all the way, occasionally lowering to engage before rising into a crescendo of power.
Florence and the Machine may also be a recognizable name due to how often their music is featured on movie soundtracks. “Breath of Life” appears on the soundtrack for “Snow White and the Huntsman”, “Wish That You Were Here” is from “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”, and “Over the Love” is from “The Great Gatsby”.
Florence and the Machine is a band that is so well loved, their tour is sure to be a success. Whether you prefer their older works or newer works, Florence and the Machine never disappoints.
