Dumbo live action film
Disney has been putting modern spins and film techniques on many classic Disney films and their most recent addition is Dumbo. They took the adorable and loved childhood film and truly brought it to life and released it to theaters.
Overall, I thought the movie was well made and a perfect choice for families. It carries on the Disney reputation with an entertaining story showing hardship and a happy ending.
The cartoon version of the movie is much shorter than the live action film and thus many changes had to be made in the story line.
One major difference between the classic film and the live action film is the emphasis on the human characters. The cartoon version kept its focus on Dumbo and the new live action version mainly focuses on the human storyline. The story line follows the Farrier family and their struggle through the war as well as in the circus.
Another difference is that there are no talking animals in the live action film like there are in the original Disney film. While they include the mice characters there is no talking Timothy Mouse.
The plot of the live action film had to be changed in many ways but overall I thought they did a great job creating an interesting and family friendly plot.
The stars of the film include Eva Green as Colette, Danny DeVito as Medici, Colin Farrell as the father Holt, and Michael Keaton as Vandemere. This group of actors and actresses create an intense yet loving children’s movie.
The movie is an hour and fifty two minutes long which is the perfect amount of time for the plot to play out. The storyline doesn’t drag on but it also doesn’t leave you wanting to see anymore.
