Freshman Emilee Siebenthal wins second in all-around competition at gymnastics states and earns a sp
Winter sports have finally wrapped and sports like basketball, wrestling, swimming and gymnastics have come to an end. However, for freshman gymnast, Emilee Siebenthal, this is only the beginning. Siebenthal just recently competed in the USA state competition for gymnastics at Bowling Green State University for her club gymnastics team, Gymnastics World of Twinsburg.
“I’ve been doing gymnastics for 12 years now, and I started when I was 2. My mom signed me up to compete in fun competitions when I was younger, and as I got older I realized my passion for the sport,’”stated Siebenthal.
Outstandingly, she got first on vault, second on floor, second on the balance beam, sixth on bars, and second in the all-around competition. This is not all she achieved though at this competition. Siebenthal earned the opportunity to compete at the regional competition and won a spot on Team Ohio, which is the team of gymnasts who represent Ohio at the regional competition.
“I am very excited to be competing in the regional competition because as a gymnast, this is what your main goal is as a level 7,8,9, or 10. Being a representative of Team Ohio has also been a goal I have wanted to accomplish, and I am glad I pushed myself to achieve this goal’” explains Siebenthal.
Siebenthal already has mind set on the future as well. Pushing herself every single day to get better and better. Nothing will stop her from being the best gymnast she can possibly be, and with this determination comes along along a lot of long hours in the gym and impeccable work ethic
“I would like to become a level 9 gymnast next year. I have already gotten a good start in the gym working some upgrades before regionals in hopes of accomplishing this goal. In order to accomplish this goal I will be training in the gym 20 to 23 hours per week this summer. It will be a lot of work but it will all be worth it in the end! I am definitely looking forward to the opportunities ahead’”
Siebenthal works very hard to be in the position she is in today and she is only a freshman. She puts in long hours in the gym, sacrifices leisure time, and continues to have determination to become better. Don’t be surprised if you see the name Emilee Siebenthal on collegiate gymnastics TV someday.
