ABC club hosts winter bash
ABC Club hosted a special needs Winter Bash on March 8th in the aux gym. The dance was organized by ABC Club and Aurora Service Learning participated as well. Four different schools attended with their students: Field, Kent Roosevelt, Ravenna, and Solon and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
“We plan on expanding next year and inviting more school districts,” said ABC Club director, Victor Torres.
The bash had many activities for the students to do and interact with. There were games such as cornhole, tic tac toe bean bag toss, Kerplunk, Jenga, and spinner games where prizes could be won.
Ravenna student Meg Ballentine said, “ My favorite game was the spinner, it was cool and we won prizes.”
Students from Harmon created the majority of the games in their woodshop class taught by Shawn Riley and donated them to the high school for the dance. Two Nike employees also came to the bash to play games with the students.
Food like mac n cheese and potatoes were provided by Nestle. There was also a chocolate fountain to dip all of the sweets in.
Overall, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves at the dance. Later in the year, Aurora will also be attending a dance at Ravenna where there will be similar activities.
