Fun staycation ideas

Not going anywhere for spring break and looking for something out of the ordinary to do? No problem, there are many enjoyable things to do around here. Aurora is a small town, but there are many things in nearby townships and in the city to keep you busy.

One thing to do that is directed more for highschool students is to go on college visits. Colleges like Kent, Miami, Dayton, Ohio State, and many more that are near would be good places to go for a day or two to see some campuses. This is a good idea because you don’t have to miss school and there is plenty to do in college towns. It would be fun to explore a campus that you may soon go to school at.

Another thing to do is go shopping, an alternative to going to Beachwood Mall is going to Strongsville or Summit Mall which aren’t as close but have a larger variety of stores. If the weather is nice, Aurora Farms would be a good place to browse around, or Crocker Park. Crocker Park is an upscale, outdoor lifestyle center that has shops and restaurants for everyone.

If the weather is nice you can also spend time outdoors going on a bike ride, long walk, jog or hike.

Take a trip to West Side Market in Cleveland or catch a play at Playhouse Square. Getting out and enjoying the fresh air will definitely make you feel better about not being on vacation.

Spring break is also a good time to shop for prom dresses. If you want to take a road trip to Pennsylvania “The Winner” is located in downtown Sharon, PA and is about an hour and 10 minute drive. There are three floors of dresses, shoes and accessories. While in Sharon you can enjoy lunch at Donna’s Diner. They have amazing milkshakes!

Another great idea would be to do spring cleaning. Go through old clothes, closets and drawers. It’s too early to pack up your sweaters, but you can start making room for them. Make a trip to Volunteers of America to donate all your unwanted clothes.

Catching up on rest and relaxation is a good idea as well. Read a good book, see a good movie or binge watch your favorite shows on Netflix. Did you know that you can rent one dvd a week from the redbox for 54 cents if you subscribe to their emails?

This may also be a good time to look through your ACT prep book or work with a tutor since finding time during the school week can be challenging.

When is comes down to it, you can have a vacation without going anywhere. There are many things to do over spring break if you aren’t going away so, try one of these things out.
