Allie X beams in color and adrenaline
Born on July 31,1985, Alexandria Ashley Hughes, know by her stage name Allie X, is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Her music particularly pertains to the alternative and pop genres.
Growing up in Toronto, Allie X grew up playing the classical piano and participating in opera and musical theatre. She began her career as a pop artist in the mid 2000s playing with local bands. Starting her career, she moved to LA in 2013 to work on her own music.
She released her first song, Catch, in 2014, which ended up on her first album, CollXtion I. Catch, has a no pun intended, a catchy little tune that serves its purpose as a starting single.
Over the course of a few years up to the current year, Allie X has released a total of four EPs and one full length album. Her singles, Catch, Paper Love, and Casanova have gotten the most traction.
My favorite thing about Allie X is her aesthetic. While mainly sticking to pop and alternative, her songs contain a variety of other genres such as synthpop, indie-pop, and electronic.
Her aesthetic involving her fashion and music videos has a distinct avant-garde touch that not many other pop artists have in the industry.
My personal favorite Allie X songs include Girl of the Year, All The Rage, Downtown, Old Habits Die Hard, and Sanctuary.
Her music is suitable for audiences comfortable with adult topics that are sprinkled onto a handful of Allie X songs.
In conclusion, Allie X flows in creativity and aesthetic. With that being said, she deserves to be heard by mainstream audiences.
