Go to an ocean of the aquarium on a cold day
I love marine animals but have never been to an aquarium before so over our snow days I decided to take a trip to the Cleveland Aquarium to see what it was like. Since it was so cold out, it was a perfect way to stay warm and have fun at the same time.
A ticket for an adult is $19.95 and a child, $13.95, although it may seem a bit pricey for a family to go, it is worth it. The Aquarium is open 363 days a year from 10am- 5pm which leaves many opportunities for a trip to see it and I spent about two hours total looking around it.
My favorite thing about the Aquarium was that you could not only look at things and walk around but also touch animals and interact in activities.
There’s one room in the Aquarium where you can put your hand in water and touch stingrays, it was very cool to touch them and see them interact with people but the staff was not very helpful in giving direction. The sting rays are in a big open tank but they swim close to the bottom so it was very hard to get one to come to the top on your own and the tank was a bit dirty because of their food. There was also a smaller tank in the room with shrimp and starfish that you could hold.
Some rooms had trivia questions about aquatic animals that were very interesting to learn about. There were also chalk boards to write on and small games to play throughout the aquarium.
My favorite room was the shark room, they have 11 sharks and the largest was a sand tiger shark that was about 10.5 feet long. The staff in the shark room was very helpful in answering our questions on the sharks and they were very knowledgeable. The best part was walking through the tunnel with sharks swimming over you head.
Overall, the Cleveland Aquarium was a friendly and fun place to go to and I would definitely go back sometime.
