Boston Mills Brandywine offers Ohioans a fun day in the snow

Boston Mills Brandywine Ski Resort originally opened as two separate, unrelated locations in the 1960s. Brandywine was then purchased by the owners of Boston Mills in 1990 forming the dual-resort.

Between both resorts there are 18 trails of various skill levels, a tubing park, four terrain parks, and two beginner areas. Of the resort's 16 total lifts, there are 4 surface lifts, a conveyor surface lift, 2 double chair lifts, 7 triple chair lifts, and 2 fixed quad lifts. Brandywine’s tubing park features 20 lanes, and 2 conveyor surface lifts. Both resorts offer a food court and a full bar.

Boston Mills Brandywine is owned and operated by Peak Resorts. Peak Resorts own 13 resorts in the Northeast and Midwest, while operating 14. Between the resorts, Peak has over 2,000 acres of skiable terrain. Other notable resorts include Mount Snow in Vermont, Attitash Mountain Resort in New Hampshire, and Hunter Mountain in New York. They are also currently in the process of adding multiple resorts to the Peak Resorts family.

Boston Mills Brandywine offers a very family-friendly atmosphere for all ages. They feature trails for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels ranging from beginner to advance while also appeasing park riders and slalom participants.

Their food courts offer a wide variety of food while also having a full bar at both resorts. Boston Mills is open from 10:00am-9:30pm most days and typically features more family and older skiers. This is due to its daytime hours and storied history. Brandywine is open from 3:30pm-9:30pm most days and typically features more teenagers while tending to be more busy, especially during club season. Brandywine also stays open until 1:00am on Fridays and Saturdays for their late night sessions starting in late December.

The prices at Boston Mills Brandywine have raised rapidly over the past decade however that is expected when a corporate company takes over. An all day snow pass for an adult (ages 13-69) costs $43 while a PM pass (3:30pm-close) costs $38. Complete rental of all equipment will cost $30. Season passes, if bought before April 30, cost $319. From the beginning of May until Open house, it will cost $379 and at any point after $459. The food is also not cheap. Another negative is the lines. Especially on the weekends, the hills become busy quickly and you can often find yourself waiting in line for upwards of five to ten minutes.

Overall, Boston Mills Brandywine holds a special place in the heart of Ohio skiers and that shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. It is a convenient drive for many in northeastern Ohio and is the perfect size to get a quick two or three hour session in or spend the whole day. The staff is typically friendly and the wide variety of food offers endless options. There is still the option of driving three hours to the closest resort out-of-state to enjoy longer runs and a more ski town-like atmosphere, however BMBW is the perfect place for local skiers and snowboarders to get a quick fix in!
