12 Strong leaves lasting impact on viewers

Would you be willing to die for your country? In the 2018 film 12 Strong, this seems to be the do or die question of the characters. If you are looking for a action packed, patriotic and inspiring movie I would highly recommend 12 Strong for a movie night.

The plot of this year old film is based off of Doug Stanton’s non-fiction book Horse Soldiers. This is the story of U.S. Army forces sent to Afghanistan immediately after the September 11th attacks. This film takes the audience through the emotional and intense journey of the first soldiers sent into battle. Through the emotional heartache, unbreakable friendships and heroic actions of these strong soldiers all viewers will feel the sense of gratitude to the soldiers who risked their lives to allow us to remain free.

The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Michael Shannon, Michael Peña, Navid Negahban, Trevante Rhodes, Geoff Stults, Thad Luckinbill, William Fichtner, and Rob Riggle. The unbreakable bond of these men seen in battle remains off stage as well. Another important yet shocking accompaniment of the film is the soundtrack by Zac Brown and Sir Roosevelt. All of these talented individuals have come together to make an unbelievable production that can be seen by any viewer.

The factor that makes this movie is the immense detail when it comes to the setting of the film. Principal photography began shooting in early January of 2017 in mines near Orogrande, New Mexico. Later on in filming the movie was shot in Socorro, New Mexico holding 8 days of filming. The film was also shot in Alamogordo, New Mexico where the White Sands National Monument was used as a shooting location. The scenes involving military encampments were filmed using 20 structures leased from AKS Military, a private manufacturer of military shelters.

Undoubtedly, 12 Strong is a must see. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone even without an interest in our country's history. The film portrays the heroic journey of those who fought for our country following the horrific terrorist attacks. The film allowed me to appreciate the unimaginable actions soldiers perform to keep all of us free and happy.

All in all, 12 Strong is a year old movie released in 2018. As the soundtrack has circulated on the radio the advertisement for the amazing film still remains and interest continues to grow. I would definitely recommend anyone looking for an eye opening film to buy 12 Strong either on Demand or in a local Walmart . I promise you will not be disappointed in this film portraying our country’s history.
