"Timeless" delivers a finale fans have been begging for
Perhaps you’ve heard of the NBC show that has been cancelled, brought back, and then cancelled again. Timeless gathered a devout following in 2016 but unfortunately that following was not large enough to keep the show on the air. It was given a second chance but NBC has decided to not make a Timeless season three. Luckily for Timeless fans, a two part finale premiered, giving them a chance to say goodbye to their beloved characters.
For those who have never watched Timeless, this is a show for sci-fi fans who are fascinated with the concept of time travel. When a time machine is stolen by a mysterious organization determined to reshape history, a team is assembled to stop them. Matt Lanter plays Wyatt Logan, a Delta-Force soldier whose task is to protect the historian (named Lucy and played by Abigail Spencer) and the pilot (named Rufus and played by Malcolm Barrett). Their job is to prevent time from being altered while resisting the temptation to alter it themselves.
In this finale, every character that fans have come to love (and hate!) returns. Going into the episode, viewers had questions in mind that have been building since season one. Will Lucy save her sister? Will Wyatt choose his wife over Lucy? What exactly is the relationship between Lucy and Flynn? And since season two ended with Rufus being killed, everyone watched with bated breath and wondered will they be able to go back in time and save Rufus?
As someone who was devastated that Timeless was unable to survive, I have been waiting a long time for closure. I had these questions myself and felt that season two left me with more questions than answers. Luckily, this finale provided a stunning end to this incredible show. After watching it, I now know everything. I couldn’t be happier after waiting years for a conclusion. As always, the episodes were well done, building suspense and emotion throughout. I refuse to spoil the finale, but let’s just say that Flynn (who has so often teetered between the role of villain and hero) plays an important role that will have you grabbing tissues.
If you haven’t seen the conclusion yet, what are you waiting for? You can find this show on Hulu, NBC.com or the NBC app. The actors deliver believable performances and portray deep, interesting characters. Each episode elegantly carries into the next and is filled with action without being overwhelming. Fans can finally feel at ease knowing that Timeless can pass away without leaving behind unfinished business.
