The Melting Pot is your next restaurant for celebratory dinners
During the winter season, no food is as cozy and comforting as cheesy fondue. We all have that restaurant that, although it may be pricey, is totally worth the cost. I have found mine this past weekend and that restaurant is called “The Melting Pot.”
Located in Lyndhurst, The Melting Pot is a restaurant that specializes in fondue and do-it-yourself meals. Sunday through Thursday, the restaurant is open from twelve to ten PM. On Friday and Saturday, it is open from twelve to eleven PM. Planning on celebrating the holidays somewhere fancy? The Melting Pot is available on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Just be sure to book a table in advance.
Birthdays are special occasions for The Melting Pot which makes your experience even greater. As someone who has celebrated their birthday here, I can say that it was an amazing surprise to find balloons and chocolate-covered strawberries waiting at the table for me. Even if it isn’t your birthday, a hired magician will stop by your table for a few card tricks.
The tall booths situated in separate rooms and alcoves added a sense of privacy to the evening. When you sit down at a table at The Melting Pot, the first thing you will notice will be the fondue pot on a stove top built into the table’s surface. Each person has a fork, knife, and three skewers to use throughout the meal. You can chose a four course option which includes cheese fondue, salad, a meat and/or seafood platter (you choose how you want to cook it) and chocolate fondue.
Every element of the meal (with the exception of the salad) is something you prepare yourself. For instance, during the main course you are served an assortment of raw meats and seafood which you will cook according to your preferences (an option is “European Style” which means the pot on the stovetop is filled with cooking canola oil).
The downside of the main course is the fact that hot oil is right at the center of your table and you are responsible for making sure the food is cooked properly. The upside is that if you cook it correctly, the food is well seasoned and will make for an excellent addition to your meal.
Understandably, The Melting Pot is expensive. Still, if there is a special event in your life and you are willing to splurge a bit on celebrating, The Melting Pot in Lyndhurst will give you a night to remember.
