Dream Big at “The Dream Event”
Boston Meeker, Sophomore at Hudson High School is holding a seminar called “The Dream Event”. This program will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 in the Hudson High School Auditorium from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. All local high school students, college students, and faculty members are welcome to attend.
This event is a completely student run organization and is supposed to help empower and encourage high school students and college students to have ‘outside the box’ dreams. The Dream Event will inspire and motivate individuals to follow their dreams and always strive for greatness. This will give students and educators the opportunity to become leaders of our society.
Dr. Milcetich has said a few words about this event as well. “This looks like an interesting opportunity. I am contemplating buying a number of tickets for students. If we have any staff members interested in attending, please let me know as well. I could also purchase some staff tickets.”
Boston Meeker, the student who is in charge of this event, is the Founder & President of Ohio Dreamers, 2018 DDA alumni, and a future Disney Imagineer. Tickets are originally $10.00. Anyone who is attending must pre-purchase their tickets at https://www.OhioDreamers.org.
Meeker is very passionate about this event and has said, “We know having a dream is one thing, but actually putting a plan in motion that will help them achieve their dreams is most important. We want to encourage students to not give up when things get tough, and to surround themselves with people who will help them reach their dreams.”
One of our students, Caroline Eggett, plans on attending this event and has shared what she feels this event will help her accomplish. “I think it will help me learn what successful people in the community do. School limits our access to the real world”
There will be several exclusive guest speakers at this event to motivate every individual who attends. This will let the audience listen and learn from these leaders and entrepreneurs. They will learn about how each guest speaker followed their dreams and the experiences that they went through on the journey to their dreams. The guest speakers will include:
Jodi Berg - CEO of Vita-Mix
Amanda Montgomery – VP – Human Resources of The Timken Company
James Rose - Managing Director of Deloitte Consulting
Carl Topilow - Conductor of the Cleveland Pops Orchestra
Dan Flowers - President and CEO of The Akron-Canton Foodbank
Rob Heiser - President and CEO of Segmint and Wired Views
Dr. Cynthia Kubu - Cleveland Clinic Neuropsychologist
Mark Kawada - General Manager of Pier W Restaurant.
Eggett also mentions, “We learn chemistry or whatever, but we don’t see how you can become successful after taking chemistry class.”
Eggett is hoping The Dream Event can display the road people in the community will take to become successful in their lives. This event will inspire you to take risks and find opportunities that you never knew you had. Everyone is welcome to attend and everyone is encouraged to attend this motivational seminar.
