ABC Club’s Upcoming Events
Aurora Buddies Club is a club that brings students from different friend groups together to engage in activities with special needs students. The club has two upcoming events, one being a Winter Bash and the other an Autism Awareness event.
As a member of the club, I was able to help organize a Winter Bash that we are hosting that is scheduled for March 8th at the high school. Schools such as Solon, Ravenna, Rootstown, Kent, Fairfield, Crestwood and Garfield have all been invited to attend this dance created ideally for students with special needs.
Advisor of ABC club Victor Torres says, “ We will be the second district (as we know) in the county to host a dance, we are proud and excited as a school club and a community to host such an event.”
There will be games for everyone to play and food for everyone to eat! There will also be student photographers to capture perfect moments from the night.
Junior Olivia Dolfi says, “ I am most excited for the DJ and the photo booth!”
ABC Club will be setting up a photo booth where students can come and take pictures with their friends and we also have a DJ coming that will be playing music friendly for everyone.
The second event that ABC Club is participating in is Autism Awareness month in April. According to Autism Society, promoting awareness assures that each person with autism is able to achieve all of their goals.
Sophomore Cameron Mullins explains, “ We will be making t-shirts and wristbands to sell to students to promote awareness, I also participated in an Autism Awareness Charity Walk in Cleveland a few months ago.”
ABC Club enjoys participating in as many activities as possible, we are designing our own shirts to wear and sell during the month of April with different colors and decals. !
ABC Club encourages anyone interested to join the club and to participate in Autism Awareness week!
