Best ways to relieve stress

This time of year can be very stressful due to Midterms.

Going on a run or exercising, in general, is a great way to relieve stress. A benefit is that after exercising, sleep quality and confidence is increased.

According to WebMD, “All forms of exercise, including yoga and walking, can ease anxiety by helping the brain release feel-good chemicals and by giving your body a chance to practice dealing with stress.”

Smelling certain things help relieve stress. Candles and essential oils have many of these smells. Check out the Essential Oils article to read more.

Napping is a temporary solution. Sleeping for too long and using it as a way to avoid work might worsen the amount of stress. Through taking small naps, stress is decreased and energy will be increased. This energy can be used to study to create a feeling of being prepared.

As stated by Elizabeth Scott, a wellness coach, “Sleep deprivation can make us all stressful. Fortunately, naps can contribute to the overall sleep needs, and can help you to feel less stressed and more refreshed.”

Reading a book, coloring a picture, listening to music, watching a movie are great ways to take one’s mind off exams. Studying too much will cause anxiety so by taking one’s mind off the thought of exams, the anxiety will be reduced.

A well-known solution is playing with pets. Interacting with pets releases oxytocin, a chemical in the brain that stimulates a positive mood.

This time of year is stressful with exams, but it doesn’t have to be.
