Big girls weigh in on fat shaming in the new Netflix film Dumplin'
The new 2018 Netflix Original Dumplin' starring Danielle Macdonald as Willow-Dean (Dumplin') is about a young plus size teenager who is the daughter of a former beauty queen who signs up for her mother’s beauty pageant as a protest. This causes many other girls from her school to follow in her footsteps and the do same by joining the pageant. Dumplin' also meets a boy named Bo whom she works with and in the end she may even find love and happiness.
Dumplin' is based on the novel by Julie Murphy. Dumplin' is Murphy's second book through Balzer + Bray. Whether you read the book or watch the film (or both), Dumplin' has the kind of feel-good heart that can't go unrecognized.
This film is mainly about sticking up for yourself and always trying your best. The actors are so inspirational and they have many outside of film experience with these matters and they truly do put all of their emotion into their acting.
Featuring one of our favorites, Jennifer Aniston, who has been in many famous films such as: Just Go With It, The Break-up, and We Are The Millers. She is most famously known for her role as Rachel Green in the hit comedy tv series F.R.I.E.N.D.S. This film also stars Luke Benward who has been in many well-known movies such as: Life Of The Party, and How To Eat Fried Worms.
This is a comedy, romance, and has a very heartwarming backstory. It proves that you can do anything you set your mind to. This film has such inspiring characters who really show the audience how to have a good time and how to love themselves and follow their dreams.
I would recommend this movie to anyone who loves a romantic comedy. This film is very inspiring and has a great soundtrack to go along with this. There is some foul language so I would suggest for 13 years and up to watch this movie.
