Thank U, Next
Ariana Grande’s new song “Thank U, Next” was released on November 3rd and was streamed more than twice the amount of any other song the week it came out.
Throughout the song, she opens up about all of her past relationships and how they have affected her. She becomes vulnerable and shares what each guy in her past has taught her.
She starts off with Big Sean by saying “Thought I'd end up with Sean. But he wasn't a match.” She dated Sean for about eight months before ending it and saying that they would remain close friends.
The next line is, “Wrote some songs about Ricky. Now I listen and laugh." In 2015, Ariana worked with Ricky Alvarez, she wrote many songs about him and she expresses how she should not have done that.
Following Ricky is Pete Davidson, who was her fiancee after about three weeks of dating, the couple seemed in love but they ended up splitting before their marriage. Ariana says, "Even almost got married. And for Pete, I'm so thankful.”
And the last guy is Mac Miller, he passed away in September of a drug overdose and some people believed it was because of his breakup with Ariana. “ Wish I could say thank you to Malcom cause he was an angel.”
Grande proceeds to explain how grateful for each of them she is and what lessons she has learned through all of her relationships. She confesses her new love for herself and says that she is all she is concerned about right now.
This past weekend a music video to the song came out that featured many stars such as Kris Jenner and Colleen Ballinger. The music video followed dance moves from the movies Bring It On, Legally Blonde, Mean Girls, and 15 Going on 30.
“Thank U, Next” broke Vevo’s record for most views in 24 hours and is Grande’s most successful track. The song is loved by many and will continuously be played around the world.
