Return of Steph Curry
Steph Curry injured his groin on November 8th in a loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, he’s been injured for three weeks now. But on Saturday, December first the two time NBA (National Basketball Association) MVP (Most Valuable Player) returned to the court in a match up against the Detroit Pistons (11-7) who are currently fourth in the east.
The Warriors (15-8) have been struggling with Curry off the floor, and their problems don’t end on the court. Teammates Draymond Green and Kevin Durant have been having relationship problems. Getting into a heated argument on the court in their game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
But none of that matters now. The star point guard has returned in his first game back since his injury. But it wasn’t the Curry the league is used to seeing, he had seven turnovers, with only three assists. The star shooter went only 3-for-9 from 3-point range in a 111-102 loss. But Curry dropped 18 points on 6-for-7 shooting in the first quarter against Atlanta on Monday for a 30-point game.
The dynasty of the Warriors has been struggling with Curry off the floor, in the Steve Kerr era the Golden State team has gone 254-47 with Steph Curry and 22-19 without Steph Curry. 40% of the Warriors losses have come when Curry is not playing.
Before his injury Curry was looking like his MVP self, through the first 12 games of the regular season, Curry was averaging more than five made 3’s per game on 49% shooting, a rate that was ahead of his record-breaking 402 makes during his second MVP season in 2015-16.
Now that Curry is back, the league should prepare for a rude awakening and get ready for the dynasty of the Warriors and the reign of Steph Curry to return.
