Lady Greenmen have high hopes for 2018-19 season
The Aurora women’s basketball program has been experiencing all kinds of greatness in the past two years. Winning a Suburban League conference in both 2016 and 2017. Lead this year by seniors Shayla Sellers, Haley Ross, Becca Crawford, and Julia Mazanec, the Lady Greenmen hope to continue their streak of success.
Senior Shayla Sellers stated : “We hope and aim to win conference again and go farther in the postseason and win districts. Maybe even make a state run”.
A run at the state title is not that crazy to imagine for the lady hoopers, especially with two division one players in the Sellers’ sisters, Shayla and Shyanne. Also incoming freshmen Mika Dalton, Ava Ryncarz, and Madison Burick are expected to really help the team out.
Haley Ross said, “We have a very good incoming freshmen class and they’re going to help us out a lot”.
Along with a skilled team, the team is trying a new defensive style this year.
Sophomore Shyanne Sellers stated: “We’re trying a new defensive style this year, it’s a lot more running and a lot more intense”.
The Lady Greenmen went 21-3 last year and have started their year off strong with a record of 2-0. They play Kent Roosevelt in their home opener on December 5th.
