Rock n Roll Hall of Fame
The students of History of Rock n Roll were able to take a field trip to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. They went there through their “Rockin the Schools” education program and had a great time seeing things that they learned in class. They saw the presentation “The Birth of Hip- Hop Culture”.
According to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame website, “The Message: The Birth of Hip- Hop and Culture” is an hour long video presentation that teaches students about the key elements of early hip-hop. The presentation focused mostly on rappers and vocal raps and the main point of it was to show how rappers used their inner city communities to create art and music.
Senior Kiley Kocianic said, “I enjoyed learning most about the artists who are more current rather than the early influences but overall it was interesting to see the outfits from the 50s!”
Many of the students found it interesting to see the outfits that were worn in the past and the way that artists used to perform but they enjoyed learning facts about artists who are more relevant in society today.
Kocianic said, “In class we learn a lot of basics but at the Hall of Fame we were able to learn more details and better understand what we learned during the class.”
Junior Jack Larrance said, “I learned that hip-hop is considered a form of Rock n Roll.” Larrance has been there before but he found it more helpful to see things in person
than on the screen in class.
Overall, the Hall of Fame visit was a great experience for the students of History of Rock n Roll because they were able to apply their knowledge from class in the museum while participating in activities.
