The new Grinch movie kicks off the holiday season
The holiday season has begun with the release of the newest version of the Grinch in theaters this past weekend.
As every Greenman in Aurora knows, the movie is about Christmas-hating Mr. Grinch since he had a terrible Christmas growing up. He lives near Whoville, a town full of people who love Christmas. He gets tired of all their joy and decides to steal Christmas, but he returns all the gifts and material things after conversing with Cindy Lou Who and seeing the people of Whoville happy without gifts.
With each new version of a movie, there are differences with the previous ones.
One change was to the theme song. It transitioned from lyrical to modern rap. I did not like the change because it does not really go along with the feel of the movie.
Another change was the addition of a reindeer. I liked this change because it helps create the theme and develop the character of Mr. Grinch.
A third difference from the previous adaptation was the animation; this most recent one has the best most detailed animations. The cast of voices includes Benedict Cumberbatch (also in the TV show Sherlock and “Dr. Strange” in the Marvel movies), Rashida Jones (also in TV show Parks and Recreation), Pharrell Williams (singer famous for his song “Happy”), and Kenan Thompson (from Saturday Night Live).
I suggest anyone who is a fan of the previous version to see this remake. Also if you are a fan of holiday or feel-good movies, this is one to see. It will help you get into the mood for holidays.
