Boys Basketball season preview

It’s that time of year again where we turn in our outdoor sports gear and prepare ourselves to sit in the warm gym. This years Aurora Boys Basketball has a promising future this winter as they take on their 4th season in the Suburban League.

This years Varsity coaching staff is composed of TJ Henderson along with the help of Thomas Henderson Sr. and John Trew as the JV coach.

Coach TJ Henderson emphasizes his hopes for this year’s team stating, “ Our hopes are to bring a new positive outlook to the program, making it more of a brotherhood.”

After a couple struggling seasons the boys along with the coaching staff are taking a new approach to this season. This new approach is H.A.V.E. F.U.N. The acronym stands for heart, attitude, vision, excitement, focus, united, and no regrets.

The boys basketball team only has two returning starters. This year’s varsity is composed of six seniors, one junior and two sophomores. However, the hopes for the season remain high.

Senior Jack Arnold expresses his hope by stating, “ We are trying to bring the family culture back into the program and get some wins this season.”

Last season the Aurora Greenmen went 8-16, needless to say the team as a whole is looking forward to getting back out there and showing a different side of their abilities.

Strengths for this year’s team include exceptional conditioning, shooting and very strong senior leadership. With such strengths the Aurora Greenmen are projected to go over 500 this season.

On the contrary however the Aurora Boys Basketball has struggled to make a name for themselves for quite some time now. The student body of Aurora needs something to cheer for once again, thus, is this the year they will find such a thing?

Senior Ryan Brubaker expresses his confidence and states, “ Our team is a close knit group of guys this year. We work hard and have fun while doing it. We are looking to surprise many people this year and we believe we have the talent to do so. Win, lose, or draw we have always have each other’s backs this season.”

You heard it here first the Aurora Boys Basketball is looking to impress the city of Aurora this winter season. Best of luck to the coaches and the team as they head into this long road to playoffs.
