Nashville shows to still be a great show 6 years later

Looking for a new show to binge watch? Oldies, but goodies are always a good place to start. A recent discovery of a new show that I have found is not something new or very popular among high school teenagers. The show Nashville, which is on the Country Music Television network has really caught my eye these past couple of months. It was not recommended by a family member or friend, I happened to just find it one day, and I have fallen in love with it since that very day.

Nashville is an American musical drama television series created by Callie Khouri. The show takes place, which is quite obvious, in Nashville, Tennessee and focuses on the lives of various fictitious country music singers. The show stars Connie Britton as Rayna Jaymes, a legendary country music superstar, whose stardom begins to fade, and Hayden Panettiere as rising younger star, Juliette Barnes. Barnes is determined to replace Rayna as the top superstar of country music. As Rayna’s superstar days begin to fade, her label believes it is a great idea for Rayna to open for up-and-comer Barnes. Sharing a stage with the disrespectful, conceited, little vixen is the last thing Rayna wants to do, which sets up a power struggle for popularity. Rayna tries to deal with these struggles with the help of her powerful father, lead guitarist and love interest, Deacon Claybourne (played by Charles Esten) and two daughters.

The show premiered on ABC in 2012 and continued on the channel for four seasons until being cancelled in 2016. The show was then picked up by CMT for its fifth season, then in 2017 it was announced that the sixth season would be the show's final season. The show was created by Callie Khouri, who also directed and produced films Thelma and Louise and Mad Money. Nashville is produced by R. J. Cutler, Khouri, Dee Johnson, and Steve Buchanan through season four, Connie Britton through season five, and Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick from season five on. The show is also on Hulu and has all six seasons on it.

Strengths of the show is that viewers are able either to fall in love or hate characters so easily. Each character has their own personality, that is unique and different from everyone elses. Another strength of the show is that the music in the show is well written, catchy, and fun to listen to, which is another reason why the show is fun to watch. However, one weakness of the show is that there are a lot of characters in the show so it is sometimes are hard to keep up with everyone’s lives and remember the drama that has happened all throughout the show. Lastly, another weakness of the show is that it is not a show that one can pick up like Friends or That 70’s Show, you have to watch it from the very first episode and go in order or else you can miss key parts in the show.

I believe the show is worth the watch. It keeps their viewers engaged at all times. Drama gets better and better as you watch the show. The show never disappoints their viewers. Nashville is on the rise and will continue to be an oldie, but goodie..
