Dexter is still a hit show after 12 years
Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is a Miami-based blood splatter expert whose career involves investigating murders. Dexter not only solves these killings he commits them. Matter of fact, he is a serial killer but he only kills those that deserve it. This makes Dexter feel justified in his actions and lifestyle options.
Dexter has a sister, Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), who is also a cop and his coworker. Although, she has no idea of what he does when the sun goes down and his double life. Dexter's adopted father Harry on the other hand does know of his secret. Throughout Dexter's childhood Harry helped him channel his urge to kill in a positive way and hone in his skills.
This show is a story told from Dexter's point of view where you get a glimpse into his thoughts and feelings. The audience is given a unique tale of justice where main character Dexter feeds his psychological hunger.
For example, Dexter uses his job as an outlet to find these criminals. He takes records from the police department and use them to track down his victims and do away with them.
“Dexter’s” final episode aired on September 22, 2013 but there are reruns played on Showtime and CBS. Also the whole show can be found on Netflix and Hulu. There are 8 seasons and 12 episodes in each season. One episode last about 45-60 mins and packed full of action the whole time.
If you have ever seen “Better Call Saul” then “Dexter” is a show you would also really enjoy. It has an interesting plot and always leaves you guessing after each episode. This show is definitely binge worthy. I personally watched the whole series and would strongly recommend it.
Even though the show had many positives there were somethings that I disliked. At times the episodes seemed similar following the same theme of Dexter killing someone then covering it up. On the other hand, each season would build up to a huge finale at the end, which was something big to look forward to. There are many twist, turns and unexpected outcomes that leave you entertained.
Overall, this show had me from the first episode. It is extremely entertaining and engrossing. Michael Hall is so intriguing as Dexter, he pulls you in and makes you feel for his character. Like all people, he is just trying to find his way in the world.
I find myself watching reruns during the week because I want more. I highly recommend it!
