Grace's Gymnastics Journey
Grace Rahill, a sophomore and member of the Aurora gymnastics team is also a member of Gym World in Twinsburg, she is an Xcel Platinum which is around a level seven or eight gymnast. She has been practicing gymnastics since she was four years old and practices four days a week for about three to four hours with her gym.
She was nine years old when she participated in her first gymnastics meet. Grace shares how she feels about having participated in the sport for such a long time.
“Gymnastics is one of the best sports because it pushes me mentally and physically and I love everything about it.”
The best all around score (scores of all events combined) that she ever received was a 35.8 which is a very good score.
There are four events in gymnastics, floor, beam, bars, and vault. Grace's favorite event to compete is floor but she thinks that she performs best on beam. Her most difficult and new skill on floor is a front- layout. She is on a small team of girls and they are all very close. Her team normally qualifies for states where they are able to compete with other strong gymnasts at their level.
“ For the past 2 years, my friends and I qualified for regionals, which is competing for Ohio against the other states in Region 5.”
Grace and her team have been successful and they support each other in all they do. Grace says that they are not only her friends in the gym but also outside. Overall gymnastics is something she is passionate about and she loves being a part of the sport.
