Pentatonix shakes Blossom
In 2011, after winning the Sing Off on NBC, Kirstin Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Kevin Olusola, and Avi Kaplan formed one of the most popular acapella groups, Pentatonix.
7 years later, this group has continued to flourish and grow, even with member, Avi Kaplan, leaving the group, since he wasn’t prepared for the commitment of Pentatonix. Kaplan was later replaced by bass singer, Matt Sallee who has continued with them through Christmas 2017. Pentatonix then invited him to stay with their group and join them in their new summer tour.
The group travelled around America singing some of their newest covers and most popular songs, including “Sorry Not Sorry” and “Havana.” The tour was from July 12th to September 16th with a stop at Blossom in Cuyahoga Falls on September 13th.
The full sound of the harmonies travelled over the audience, creating something that seemed like an entire band. A deep bass, bouncing beat, and smooth tones of popular songs flowed together to leave the crowd dancing and singing along.
Not only was their sound great, but the lighting was super colorful and flashed around to match the song perfectly. Pentatonix had multiple costume changes where they came out in dramatic, intense ways which caused the audience to go wild.
The crowd stayed loud and excited through the whole 3 ½ hours and Scott Hoying thanked the crowd a multitude of times for being one of the biggest and loudest audiences they’ve been able to perform for. The whole group was super excited and their energy could be felt in the sound they produced.
The whole experience was intoxicating with the fans all screaming, singing and dancing around, having fun with Pentatonix’s amazing songs.
