Taking a new Art perspective

Victoria Blechschimid age 14

In high school, we all have something that we're good at. Whether its sports or academics we all have something we consider our forte. For Victoria Blechschmid, it's art. I had the pleasure of interviewing her earlier this week and asked her opinion on her idea of relieving the stress of the school year. "Art can be a stress reliever pretty good and it can help me take my mind off school for even just a bit."

Blechschmid has been drawing all her life. "However," she said, "I've only started getting serious about it around middle school and even more so as I entered high school." I have been able to see some of Victoria's works of art first hand. One can only progress as time goes on. Hopefully, we'll get to admire some of her artwork adorning the walls in our hallways.

I asked Blechschmid what her inspirations were for when she draws and if she draws material for anyone particular “I get inspiration from my friends and other artist from the web comics that I read” she said “If I draw for anyone, then it’s for my friends and family.”

Her family has been very supportive of her artistic hobby side. In fact, it was her family's influence on her that helped her see that art was a fun possibility for her. "My dad used to be an artist and I would borrow his supplies all the time when I was younger before I got my own, and my parents have been encouraging of art."

My final question to Blechschmid was whether or not she thought she could turn her passion into a career. She responded to me with, "I could definitely consider turning art into a career and I have considered getting more serious with animation and art to possibly go to school and make a career out of it."
