Glenwillow Grille pleases the palate and the piggy bank
White tablecloths don’t have to mean high prices.
Walking into Glenwillow Grille, in the small village of Glenwillow, Ohio, one may be surprised to see white tablecloths with votive centerpieces in the middle of a busy shopping center. And the surprises don’t stop there.
The atmosphere may give the impression that typical American-style food will be featured, but the menu is anything but traditional. For instance, Willow Chips ($11) use traditional potato chips, and pile them with bacon, cilantro, queso, and jalapeno for a delicious twist on a pantry staple.
More beloved American staples are transformed at Glenwillow Grille. Why serve a normal cheeseburger when you can make it into a wrap-served, of course, with fries ($11).
Even the beloved taco gets a new look. Spicy Street Tacos combine cilantro, sriracha, and queso in a soft tortilla, then are topped with either chicken ($8) or shrimp ($10), depending on the guest’s preference.
If carb-heavy foods aren’t your thing, the salad menu is equally delicious. Even though there are traditional favorites such as the Chicken Caesar salad ($12), other options take normal salads and top them with tasty suprises. For example, the Buffalo Chicken Salad tops lettuce, cheddar cheese, red onion, egg and cucumber with fried buffalo chicken to add a kick to an otherwise normal (but satisfying) salad ($12).
Even though the menu varies, everyone’s dietary needs can be satisfied. From the meat-lover to the vegan, anyone can find something at Glenwillow. If unsure, ask! Staff members always have a friendly smile and are very knowledgeable about the expansive menu.
In addition to the expansive menu, the restaurant’s environment is equally surprising. Even though people are always in the restaurant, the staff is able to keep it meticulously clean, without a dropped french fry or spot of dirt on the white tablecloths in sight. Votive candles on every table, natural light streaming in, and pristine table settings make you feel like you’re in an expensive restaurant, but the upbeat, feel-good music playing softly over speakers helps establish a feeling of casual comfort.
The only downside is the parking situation. The parking lot is cramped, as Glenwillow Grille shares a lot with several other small businesses. If a driver isn’t careful, it can be easy to get into an accident.
All in all, Glenwillow Grille is a fantastic restaurant if you’re looking a good-quality meal that won’t break the bank, all in a relaxed and clean environment. As long as you can navigate the parking lot, you can be sure that there will be something for you at Glenwillow.
