Cafe Avalaun: Gluten free food doesn’t have to be boring anymore

It is hard to find restaurants that make gluten free eating simple, but Cafe Avalaun makes it as easy as it can get. With their mouth watering and 100% gluten free menu items; this is the perfect spot for anyone with gluten free dietary restrictions.

This small family friendly cafe prides themselves in creating delicious food with gluten free, dairy free, vegan, egg free, and paleo options while using all fresh ingredients. The cafe includes a bakery, in store dining, and catering. Specific bakery items can be pre-ordered and picked up in store.

Located in Warrensville Heights about 20-25 minutes outside of Aurora, Cafe Avalaun serves up a variety of tasty treats such as their famous crepes. They serve breakfast and lunch from 1-3 pm. From sweet to savory there is a crepe for everyone. I had the opportunity to try the “Not-tella” crepe; a freshly made wrap stuffed with seasonal fruit and the chocolate hazelnut spread, and topped with whipped cream and hazelnut shavings. This is every chocolate lovers dream. The lemon bar crepe was the perfect combination of sweet and sour. It is filled with a lemon curd and fresh blueberries and topped with whipped cream and a cookie crumble. If you are looking for a healthier and protein packed breakfast you may consider a creperitto which are filled with typical breakfast foods like eggs and breakfast meats.

One of the best features of the cafe is the coffee bar. They offer warm and cold teas and coffee. To add on to the chocolaty crepe I ordered an iced mocha. They have a wide variety of drinks that can make your breakfast or lunch experience even better.

However it can be a little pricey compared to other breakfast restaurants. A breakfast option such as crepes and omelettes are typically around twelve dollars. While it may be a little more expensive than typical chain restaurants; it offers all fresh gluten free foods which are typically more expensive and worth the money. Cafe Avalaun is the perfect spot for any breakfast lover looking for something new.
