Institutional walls revitalized artistically
Creativity and individualism is being expressed in the best way possible in Aurora High School: Art.
Teachers are requesting murals in their rooms that represent either their class or interests of their own.
Kaleen Girman leads the project, nicknamed C.O.R.E -for Creation Of Restylized Environments, volunteering her time with a group of friends to bring the walls to life. She says, “It’s been amazing that the school is so open to letting us put art all over the school. Teachers and peers have been more supportive than C.O.R.E. could have imagined! The members of C.O.R.E. are stoked to leave their mark on the school and are excited for what we have coming.”
Mr. Wilcox asked for a bicycle on his wall because he is an avid cyclist, so they designed a bike with an infinity symbol incorporated into it.
Mrs. Lindley requested Dr. Eckleberg’s eyes from the instant classic, and her all-time favorite novel, The Great Gatsby.
For his room, Mr. Snider asked for one of the more unique requests: “An evolution of man on the wall right side as you enter but a young child progressing through all the stages of life and in every stage at every age walking into the room carrying a book- title of the book would be important but I have to think about that…”
Some teachers are unsure of exactly what they want, but they are open to many ideas.
Students and staff alike are excited about the added beauty in our school. Be on the lookout for the newest additions to our walls.
