Fun With Robots!

Recently over the weekend, local robotics team, Trial and Error, won an award for their software and was one of the 12 finalists out of a hundred teams. This event took place in the Ohio FTC competition and the arenas took place in Kent State University. Specifically, arenas where robots compete each other by performing multiple tasks to earn as many points as they can. The team with the most points wins. Trial and Error has very talented and extraordinary people such as John Holt, Kameron Fry, Zack Goldston, Sanjana Duvvuri, Ella Case, and Joe Esposito. These talented people have their schedules on when to work on the robot for competing. John Holt says, “Our regular schedules are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays every week after school.” However, when the date for the competition gets closer and closer, they work even harder. Zack Goldston says, “When it’s almost time to compete, all of us work entire weeks to have extra time to work on our robot.” They don’t stop trying because they are all very passionate for the robotics competition. “I do have a passion robotics and especially programming!” says Ella Case. “I love spending the time to build and program robots and the competitions are exciting and intense.” says Sanjana Duvvuri. The whole team loves what they do which motivates them to win any challenges they face. Trial and Error is a team you need to see because they don’t stop trying. They make sure their robot completes tasks such as picking up balls and putting them in a basket better than all the other robots in the competition. The competition consists of rounds and each round has an arena with obstacles the robots must complete. The rounds start off with the robots automatically competing for 30 seconds. When time runs out, the team grabs a controller and they control the robot for the rest of the round. The team with the most points in a round moves on to the next round and the next round until, finally, it comes down to the final round between two teams. The team with the most points wins the entire match.
