Black Panther pounces box office

Created by a majority African-American staff, Black Panther is the epitome of cinematic empowerment.

The writing, direction and production, soundtrack, and cast are all dominated by African-Americans and the support that the movie has gathered has been overwhelming.

The movie sends a powerful message with lessons to be learned from all kinds of people. The witty writing and double meanings force people to think about their lives outside of the theater.

Black Panther takes place in a fictional country in Africa, called Wakanda, that was never colonized by the Europeans. Resting on a cache of the precious metal Vibranium, Wakanda is able to prosper and thrive.

Combining urban culture with traditional African culture is a theme throughout the film. Whether it’s the design of the fictional country, the clothing styles, the soundtrack, or the writing - the two worlds are seamlessly woven within one another.

Black Panther is approaching more records as it’s box office profits near $900 million. If it continues at the pace it is now, Black Panther will be the biggest superhero movie of all time domestically and worldwide, passing Batman and Iron Man.

While not qualified for any awards at this year’s Oscars, the cast till drew the attention with some Wakandan-style outfits.

Black Panther dominated the box office and media presence because of it’s empowering message and symbolic plot line. It is a movie that everyone should see, regardless of background.
