Peer into the Desks (and The Lives) of Aurora Teachers
In order to get a quick peek into the lives and personalities of the teachers at our school, I walked from classroom to classroom, picking out teachers to show me random items that they have in their desk.
Not every teacher had something interesting and insightful, but the following teachers did.
Mrs. Lindley keeps a pink toy princess wand, shaped like a heart that lights up and has sound effects. Perhaps this tells you that she has a young daughter, which she does. Perhaps she is remaining connected to her childlike wonder and spreading happiness and joy to others.
Mrs. Brown has a badminton shuttlecock in her desk. Perhaps she is an avid athlete, travelling to the gym every weekend to play a little badminton. Or she was just looking for a creative way for her students to talk and participate in class.
Mr. Snider has a tic tac toe board shaped like a baseball field, where the pieces are players and baseballs. He also has a nutcracker pez candy that his wife got him. These items could lead a person to believe he is an athlete, in fact he was a college baseball player. They could also lead one to believe that he is a family man, interested in plays and musicals, and sugar.
Mr. Abrecht has 13 staff ID cards in his desk. Of these, he was wearing christmas gear in one, and a sombrero and fake mustache in the other. I don’t even know what one could assume by these.
Mrs. Schadle holds onto Aurora Alumni Cory Bianco’s soccer award mess-ups. There was a period of time where he was either given the wrong award, or they spelled something wrong on the plaque. Schadle has both screw-ups. Cory has the real one he earned.
Ms. Masiello has a slew of hawaii gear in her office and around her desk. Perhaps that means she has a happy and tropical personality.
