Meet our newest staff member: Michelle Lukasik

Here at Aurora, we recently gained a new member to the office staff. Michelle Lukasik, took Mrs. Berger’s spot and is now one of our office administrators. I was interested in learning a little more about her to help introduce her to our school.

First and foremost, I was curious to know about her family, “ I am married to Jason Lukasik (Jason and I have known each other since kindergarten we were in the same class together at Miller) We have 3 children, Benjamin 11 (5th grade), Lyla 8 (3rd grade) and Millie 6 (1st grade).”

Not only does she have a three children, she also has a yellow lab named Harvey James Superman Lukasik. Although she is busy with a dog and three kids she still finds time to have a hobby.

“ I enjoy working out. I attend a zumba class twice a week.”

Before coming to Aurora she worked at KinderCare Learning Care.

“I started as a infant teacher and became the Assistant Director and then finally ended my career there as a Center Director. I worked there for 16 years.”

After those sixteen years she heard about this through a website called, “Indeed” which searches jobs to help people find openings near them. As she goes into this new job I asked her about what her goals are, “My main goal is to learn as quickly as I can, so that things get done in a timely fashion. I have so much to learn and want to do the best job I possibly can. I hope to be here for years and years and create a friendly environment for students and parents and staff.”

Lukasik is determined to get in the flow of things as fast as she can so that she can do the best job that she can. Her goals do not stop there though because she also wants to make an impact on the people around her as well.

“ I hope to bring a smiling face to the office each day. I hope to create a smooth transition to my new position so that students and parents and staff are taken care of. I hope to help out our school district in anyway possible.”

Going into a new job can always be scary, but Lukasik seems like she has it all figured out already. While having her hands full at home and zumba classes at night, she still manages to keep her plans in check.

Many people do not know exactly how hard our secretaries work because they do not know what their job actually entails.

“This job entails, keeping the attendance for the school. Helping students, parents, staff when they come down to the office for whatever reason maybe.”

Dealing with parents, teachers and students it can be difficult to keep everyone happy, but for being new to the job and school Lukasik sounds like she has a pretty good grasp on what she needs to do.
