Colleen Hoover lives up to expectations with her new book
Without Merit, by Colleen Hoover, is a story about a young girl, Merit, who has a tremendous amount of family drama. Between her twin sister’s weird dating habits, her stepmother, her mother who suffers from social phobias and the new boy who just moved in, it’s safe to say that Merit has her hands full.
When Merit finds herself drawn to her sister’s boyfriend, she’s determined to avoid him at all costs. That is until he moves in. As she tries to deny her attraction, she finds herself being continually drawn to him and somehow always gets stuck alone with him. Are her feelings one sided though?
Throughout the novel, secrets are revealed and Merit finds herself struggling to handle everything around her. Long lost relatives show up, relationships are broken and mistakes are made. As she hits rock bottom and has to work her way back to the top, how will things turn out with her family, with her sister’s boyfriend and with her?
Colleen Hoover, born on December 11, 1979, is an author of at least 20 novels (7 of them are New York Times Bestsellers) and is slowly becoming more well known. Her first novel was published in January of 2012, Slammed, and her most recent book,
, was published on October 3, 2017. She lives in Texas with her husband William Heath Hoover and their three sons.
Personally, I am big fan of Colleen Hoover and continue to recommend her to everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed this book because it kept me wanting to keep reading to find out what’s going to happen. She does a really nice job of developing original characters and she brings them all to life. All of her characters seem to have secrets which keeps the audience intrigued.
She’s a very creative writer and always ends her books on a good note, instead of leaving you hanging and frustrated with the ending. Although, I do like this about her, some people may disagree because the endings are predictable, but she does a good job of throwing in curveballs and events throughout the book that you could never guess. Some people may think that with all the drama and curve balls her books can be overwhelming and have too much going on, so her writing may not be for everyone.
All in all, I will continue to stand by Colleen Hoover and I encourage others to read her books as well. She’s very creative and original and will remain one of my favorite authors.
