Meet the new staff!
As the new school year continues you may have noticed some unfamiliar faces that are now on the teaching staff. Catherine Massiello is one of those new members.
Fresh out of college and hoping to “get her foot in the door” Massiello is long term subbing for Choir Director Sara Dixon.
Massiello had been job searching for most of her senior year, when she saw the position available for a year long substitute. “I actually had a second interview at Lakeview when Dr. Milcetich called me to tell me I got the position and I figured a real, full year, job was better than a possible job somewhere else.”
Before obtaining her teaching degree at Baldwin Wallace University, Massiello lived in Chardon, Ohio with her parents and two sisters. There, she said, “I lived on a farm where we had chickens and goats. And I used to show my goats at the county fair.”
Massiello has been very appreciative of the teaching staff saying, “Everyone has been very welcoming and helpful.”
“College doesn’t really prepare you for doing things like working the copier so it’s been nice to have some help with that stuff, also I haven’t had to eat lunch alone so I’ll call that a success,” she added.
She even had great things to say about the choir students she works with everyday, “The choir kids are an amazing group of kids and I really feel they have potential of being even better.”
“I’ve learned that I need to not push so hard to make it perfect because that’s when we get off track, I need to be more confident that we’ll get there over time.”
Overall, Massiello is thankful for how welcoming the school has been in allowing her to pursue her career right out of college and thankful especially to the choir kids who are allowing her to grow and develop her own teaching style.
