Fun fall festivities

Yankee Peddler is a festival that takes place at Clay’s Park in Canal Fulton, OH. Yankee Peddler focuses on life between 1776-1825 and this September they celebrated their 45th appearance.

Yankee Peddler runs every weekend in September from 10:30 am- 6 pm. The festival is full of vendors and crafters who set up booths on a path through the woods to display their merchandise and most dress up in old outfits to fit the time period. The booths sell a wide variety of clothes, candles, soaps, lotions, art, toys, etc. Everything, even belt buckles, that are sold there are handmade and cannot be from other stores or from any type of kit. Live music and dancing can also be enjoyed throughout the festival.

There is also a wide variety of delicious foods like smoked turkey legs, funnel cakes, apple fritters, kettle corn and many more.

Over this past weekend, I attended the festival myself. My family and I go annually to walk around and treat ourselves to the amazing food. This year there were not as many vendors as usual, probably around 40 or 50 this year, but there was still so much to see.

It’s very interesting to walk from vendor to vendor to see what they made and how they made it, Most of the vendors are extremely friendly and enjoy being able to show off their work to anyone who’s interested. Being able to see everyone in their costumes is also a fantastic bonus.

While we were there, we indulged in a smoked turkey leg, pumpkin spice funnel cake and a cream soda. All of which were delicious and very filling. We enjoyed live music, dancing and shopping. Nearing the end of the day, my favorite thing that I bought was soap made from goat milk that smelled like maple butter.

For me, personally, Yankee Peddler is a fun family tradition and it’s always fun every year. I recommend it to people every year and it’s something I will continue to look forward to. If you’re looking for a fun weekend activity then Yankee Peddler is definitely something you should put on your radar for upcoming years.
