Cyrus brings 70's retro vibe with new album.

Miley Cyrus moves on to a new style of music with her recently released single and soon to be released album, both titled Younger Now.

Younger now is all about Miley’s change throughout her music career. She used to only be know as an upbeat pop singer and Disney show actress, and I feel like this song is her finding herself without that title. The Song is about how she’s “not afraid of who used to be”, but also how she wants to move on from that into more mature music.

For those of you who don’t know (I’m not sure how), Miley Cyrus is a former Disney Channel actress best known for her role as Hannah Montana. And while those days are far behind Miley she still finds it difficult to get people to see her as more than just a Disney channel actress. While, in the past, Miley has struggled to find a balance between being the opposite of Disney and being herself; Younger Now seems to be the middle ground she was looking for.

The song is relaxing and has a very 70s retro vibe, as the cover art would suggest. It’s a very different style than we’ve seen from Miley, and it may not be for everyone. But it’s definitely refreshing to listen to it and feel her newfound maturity through the lyrics. If you like more upbeat, high energy songs this probably isn’t going to be your cup of tea, but I would listen to it anyway.

Overall, I enjoyed the song and hearing what one of my favorite childhood singers is doing now, but I probably will not listen to it again simply because it’s just not the kind of music I’m into. But if you like more of an indie, retro style of music you’d really enjoy this single, and you should check out the full album too when it’s released September 29th.
