New Spiderman: Homecoming trailer sparks fan excitement
Spiderman has always been a favorite superhero. Created in 1962, the character has been given countless makeovers, love interests, and villains to fight.
Spiderman’s alter-ego, Peter Parker, has been portrayed by numerous people throughout the years. In animated series, Drake Bell and Neil Patrick Harris have loaned their voices to Parker. More commonly known are the live action movies, in which Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have each had their turn to play to character.
We are about to get another makeover, though. As of Captain America: Civil War in 2016, Spiderman is now being played by 20 year old Tom Holland. Comics fans are overjoyed; finally Spiderman is out of Sony’s hands and back into the capable hands of Marvel. Fans are hoping for a more realistic portrayal of the high schooler.
Fans are already setting their hopes high after seeing Holland cast as the famous role. They’re excited because, after multiple attempts, Spiderman actually seems the correct age. Peter Parker is a high schooler, about 15 years old when the spider bit him. In 2002, Maguire was 27 when he played Spiderman, and Garfield was 29. Though Holland is 20, he portrays a teenage boy perfectly, and, no offense to him, has the look too.
The preview of Spiderman: Homecoming looks promising. Jimmy Kimmel premiered the trailer for the movie on his show and youtube channel and the views are steadily increasing. Aiming to portray an average high school experience, Holland’s Parker is just that, a normal kid. The trailer shows him crushing on Liz Allan, hanging out with his best friend, but also battling foes.
The trailer gives fans a peek at the movie’s villain Vulture, portrayed by Michael Keaton. Complete with frightening suit, Keaton’s character gives Parker a menacing threat. Besides, Vulture, Iron Man also makes an appearance in the clip. It is unknown how large his role in the movie is going to be, but it would be incomplete without him.
Separate from Kimmel’s premiere of the trailer, an international trailer was also released. It was very similar, but the international trailer set the time frame of the movie at least partially during Captain America: Civil War.
The Spiderman: Homecoming trailer mixes the right amount of awkward with the best amount of action. It gives fans tears, angst, and fear from one of Marvel’s best heros. Go watch the trailer for yourself, because as soon as you watch it, you’ll be excited too.
Spiderman: Homecoming comes to theaters July 7th of 2017.
