What's Aurora's favorite social media?
Teenagers use a wide variety of social media ranging from Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram. The AHS journalism class conducted a survey on twitter that gave students the opportunity to vote for their favorite social network. Student chose from the networking sites above.
According to the results Snapchat was voted the favorite social media network with 38% of the votes. For those unaware Snapchat is a type of social media that allows people to send pictures to their friends for 1-10 seconds. Snapchat users can also post pictures to their “story” which allows all their friends to view the photo.
Jacob Hauptner, senior explained his favorite social media is Snapchat. Hauptner said, “I like Snapchat because it is constant interaction with my friends.”
Sam Iamarino said, “I enjoy using Snapchat because it’s casual, easy to do and you can always stay in touch with people.”
Twitter was voted the second favorite social media with 33% of the vote. Twitter came in a close second and is widely used by teenagers.
Senior Gary Spice explained Twitter is his favorite social media for numerous reasons. Spice said, “Twitter is my favorite because it has less restrictions. You can post videos, pictures, messages, gifs, etc. Whereas on snapchat, for example, it is tailored for only pictures and videos.”
Brittany Schambach, a senior, also enjoys using Twitter the best. “I enjoy Twitter because I love how quick and easy it is to send and receive information,” said Schambach.
In third place was Instagram with 26% of the vote.
Senior Paige Berger explains she enjoys using Instagram. Berger said, “Instagram is my favorite because I like looking at pictures and posting them.”
Katie Cymanski said, “My favorite social media is Instagram because I like looking at pictures rather than reading stuff.”
With only 4% of the vote was Facebook. Facebook is used mostly by adults because it is easy to navigate.
It will be interesting to see as time progresses if the ratings of these social networking sites stay consistent.
