Pretty Little Liars embodies true entertainment

We all know Christmas break is the perfect time to catch up on all the shows we’ve been missing out on during the school year. Now is finally the time to sit back, eat some popcorn and watch the show everyone can’t stop talking about... Pretty Little Liars.

The ABC Family series is based on a collection of YA novels by author, Sara Shepard, which was initially released in 2006. It revolves around a group of teen girls — Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario), Hanna Marin (Ashley Benson), Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale) and Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell). Their friendship is torn apart after their clique’s fearless leader, Alison DiLaurentis goes missing and later turns up dead. However, when a mysterious entity named ‘A’ starts harassing the remaining four by threatening to expose all their secrets, the girls reunite and vow to find out what really happened to their friend, before they suffer a similar fate.

Other than the search to find the mysterious ‘A’, which is the central idea of the show, the characters all bring their unique background stories and personalities. Spencer Hastings is the most intelligent character and comes from a family of lawyers and other highly sophisticated career paths. Aria Montgomery is the artsy and alternative girl in Alison's clique prior to her disappearance, while Emily Fields is the most athletic character on the show. Hannah Marin is the "it girl" of the group who is arguably the most popular girl in school, after Alison went missing.

Pretty Little Liars has won over two dozen Teen Choice Awards and has even made a spin off series named, Ravenswood which premiered in 2013 and ended in 2014.

However, the show does have some unanswered questions, but usually the get answered in a few episodes in. The viewers just have to be patient.

Pretty Little Liars will not only catch your attention by the first two minutes of the show, but it will hold on to it for the next five seasons. Season five ended in October of 2015 and on January 6, 2015, there will be special episode containing a five year time jump.
